A Message From The Head of Primary

Dear Parents and Carers,

Yr 6 spent a day in the Secondary Dept last week for Orientation Day. This is always a great experience and prepares the students well for the transition to high school.

Thank you to all who attended. A small shower of rain caused minor disruption, but the day was a great success. Classrooms were abuzz with a range of activities (craft, games, singing, dancing, debating, percussion performances), while Mrs Brooks once again 'wowed' us with an awesome morning tea.

Visitors were entertained outdoors by our Secondary Music students, and then we enjoyed a moving Praise Time in the Grace Centre. Mr Easter gave thanks to God for our beautiful new Infants Classrooms, and also acknowledged the fine work of Mr John Eggins and his team in their construction.

After enjoying a delicious sausage sandwich, parents who chose to make a day of it were rewarded with a display of some energetic line dancing by over 100 students, from Transition to Yr 6. Amazing sight!

Great news! SCC's Transition to Kindy programme (which usually runs in the second half of the year only) will operate all year next year! This decision was made after careful investigation into the Department of Education and Communities (DEC) requirements. Thanks to the staff at the Association of Independent Schools (AIS) for their assistance.

The Transition programme, based on the BOS syllabuses, will teach across all six primary Key Learning Areas with children working towards Early Stage One outcomes.

Focus for this week - Playing fair.
Focus for next week - Others week.

Congratulations to Kindy Koalas who again won this week's Uniform Competition. Well done, Koalas!
